I was at the guitar store the other day buying strings for my electric. The salesman told me I'm old enough I should be playing something better than the Fender I bought at Target last year. It's a "Starcaster by Fender", which is really not a Starcaster at all, but a cheap, modified Stratocaster for beginners, made in China. He said it's fine for beginners, but I'm "old enough" that I should move on. I wanted to tell him he had no idea how old I even am (I'm quite often assumed to be much younger than I am). Instead I told him I haven't been playing that long, but that I'll keep them in mind when I'm ready.
Tonight I'm going to take off all my strings for the first time. I broke a couple of them on Sunday, but I've been planning to restring the thing for a while now. It needs it very badly, and we're going to start recording our album soon! I don't know if I can replace all the strings in one evening, as I'm pretty slow and unexperienced. I can hardly wait to hear how much better she sounds when I'm all done, though!
What do you play?
